Fridays

As with the past 3 winters, John & Samuel go skiing every Friday.

It is my day off, to do what I want ( need) and take it easy (in theory)(yet to happen).

So, tomorrow, on my day off, I will be cleaning my house. Most everything Christmas is put away. I KNOW!! The only thing left is the dishes. I haven't gotten to them yet, and they are so cute, I usually leave them out until around Valentine's Day. I delude myself in to thinking they are winter dishes, not necessarily Christmas dishes. The key word being delude. But I like this delusion.

And then on Sunday, we are having about 25 people come over for the game.

It should be ...fun. Seeing as how our TV is in the unfinished basement. Everyone will crowd down there. lol. But thats okay. Since we hardly ever watch the thing, we can't justify bring it up here. Even for 1 day. We will still have a good time. Specially if the Steelers win!!

And while cleaning my kitchen, I found an old cd I bought YEARS ago. It's a piano hymns cd. How I love it. The church we go to does one hymn a Sunday. The rest is contemporary-ish. Very good, but is given the choice, I would sing hymns all the day long. So I will put my cd in the cd player tonight, and go to sleep with the soothing music of promises from my KING.

My football life

Super Bowl Sunday is a mere 4 days away!!

Funny. I love football. I really do. John is okay with it. In our family, he is the football widower. Poor guy. I keep thinking, its because he is a Bills fan.

Allow me to share my history with football. I started watching football when I was about 9. We never watched tv growing up. HMM. Let me to rephrase that. I never watched tv growing up. I was ALWAYS grounded from watching. The only time my parents let me watch was Sunday afternoons, when they took a nap.

As you may remember, way back in the stone age, when we only had 12 channels to choose from, and had no other option, the very thing that would be on tv Sunday afternoons...was football!! OR some dumb movie.

That was the time of the Steelers and Cowboy's glory. Thank goodness I chose the Steelers!! Had I chosen the Cowboys, I would have had to shoot myself in the foot or something.

And so, I have been a Pittsburgh fan for 32 years. I recently found a picture of my mom and sister. My mom is wearing one of my Steelers t-shirts. She probably found it and put in on to do chores. This picture is about 25years old. I showed it to her, and she laughed. She had no idea what it was, but because I used to beg for them, she would get Steelers stuff for Christmas/my birthday...

My daughter is a Patriot's fan, my oldest son is a Giants fan, my youngest son is a Eagles fan.

Where did I go wrong???

At least they all understand, enjoy and appreciate the game.

GO STEELERS!!!!

Today

Today, I remembered just how important prayer is to all of us. This world needs to stop living in the flesh. Or maybe I need to say we Christians need to stop...

For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world's rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. Ephesians 6:12

wOw!! If this doesn't drive us to our knees!!!!

And so, as my LORD has bought new things to my heart, I will remember this passage, bring it to HIS throne, and there it will be conquered.

24

No, I am not going to talk about the show 24. I don't even watch it. Though truth be told, I wish I had the time to sit there and conquer the world with Jack. I saw the first season; my friend let me borrow her dvds when I threw my back out. It was so cool and intense. It did give me a head ache though. One shouldn't sit and watch hours upon hours of that show, your mind can't handle it. That season is all I've ever seen.

Why am I talking about the show?? Sheesh, my ADD is firmly in place.

Actually today is our 24th anniversary!!!

Happy Anniversary my love. We have a pack day planned with John & Samuel skiing while I clean my basement & finish laundry. LOL. We will go out to dinner tomorrow. My sister gave us gift certificates to McCormick & Schmicks, and we can't wait. We usually go to a B&B, but my daughter is getting married. There is no money for those type things this year. But then, being married for 24 years means we are not so anal about stuff like " It has to be perfect today with all my wishes fulfilled." It means, we love each other. And life is good.

And so, maybe I will squeeze a movie in there this afternoon, because I love movies and never can get out to one. Or maybe not. But I will thank God for my husband, the love of my life. And I will hope for many, many more of these beautiful days to come.

Moving out

Our oldest son is moving out in 2 weeks.

It has been an interesting time having him here. He didn't live with us for almost 3 years.

Then he moved back.

Well, he & his friend got a place in Martinsville, the cutest little town about 20 minutes away. I know it will be good for him. He is excited, and frankly so am I. Not that I will not miss him, but I think he will be happier. And not that I probably wont see him when he comes over for a decent meal, which I am hoping happens. Often.

But he has been ripe for this for a LONG time.

He hasn't finished his schooling yet, and now it will take even longer. But somehow, it is still the right thing for him.

And so, I pray for him. He will be his own man come Sunday Feb. 1. ( well he moves on the 2nd, since the first is Super Bowl Sunday, and he won't find ANYONE who will help him move.) I will be on free cycle often for the next 2 weeks, looking for house necessities.Freecycle has the right price. :) And off he goes.

God bless you son.

Today, Chloe & I met one of the cateres at the vineyard to talk turkey. Well, not turkey, more like wedding stuff, but you know what I mean.

And then on the way home, we heard on the radio that on Sunday it WAS GOING TO GO UP TO 20 DEGREES!!! We were sooo happy. Then we laughed at ourselves on how pathetic we are, that the thought of it going up to 20 degrees made us so excited.

It is raw, bitter cold outside. It is 5 but windchill factor makes it -5. And lets not forget the wind tearing into your bones. Oh, and this is during the day, when the sun is shining. At night its a tab colder. ::::sigh::::

It is so miserable. If we ever move south, I will not miss this.

AT ALL.

Off to the races

I've been a part of BSF on and off for a few years now. I love it. It is a no nonsense Bible study that just pounds out the word of God. Period.

This year is probably my favorite. It is on the life of Moses. This week, we studied the willing obedience.

I want to willingly obey.

But I am not even close.

In a matter of 1/2 an hour, God showed me just how much I am not obeying. But it was good. It is not a woe-is-me I am a failure type of lesson. But look what a mess you are, get back on the horse type lesson.

But see, my first prayer is, help me get over myself. I am a stubborn, opinionated, manipulative know-it-all. Who really doesn't know squat. lol.

But I know my GOD is bigger then that.

And HE will answer the prayers of those who really humbly and though difficult, will seek HIS will.

But if any of you out there are the praying type, and have time..... remember me.

wOw, what a week!

My house was bombed. Well, at least it looks like it. It is now 12:21 am and I just sat down from trying to straighten it out, and I am about 1/9 way done. Bummer. But tomorrow is Saturday, and after going over my parent's house, its attack the mess.

And on Sunday is....... HECK YES!!!

And there were 2 great wins on Wednesday night.

The first was just awesome. I am not a Gators fan, but I have become one because of Tim Tebow. I was soooooooo happy they won.

The second great in was my Mock Trial team. They pretty okay, and are competing again next Tuesday.

And here is a funny picture of Daisy ( with Reilly behind her)on top of one of our Christmas storage boxes. She has a habit of jumping on stuff and sitting there, Snoopy like sometimes. She dips her head down and everything. She moved to look at the camera before we could get a Snoopy snapshot. She is a funny girl.
