Springing into summer, but not yet....

So, between trying to get school finished, working on the gardens, backyard, enjoying the weather and then trying to keep the house clean & the family fed, it was nice to take a weekend break.

So we went to my sister's house for the weekend.  She lives in PA.

And , no, I didn't forgot the reason for this weekend.  It is a noble, honoring and good holiday.  Makes me ever so thankful to live in the great nation.

Samuel, jumping into summer time mode.

Playing football and swinging in the backyard.

There were a load of people at the house.  My sister & her family, our whole family & Josiah, and my parents.  So, the boys slept in the sunroom.  Stevie had already woken up, but I got the rest of them, who started watching a movie at 12:30 am, so they had to be dragged out of bed then next morning.

The weather was amazing.  The company great.  Some got a little sunburned, but overall, a good time!  And now....back to schooling. lol.

Our state's homeschool convention in this coming weekened.   I don;t need anything big, just a few small things.  Usually, I work/volunteer the convention; this year, I am just plain old attending and enjoying the speakers.  I haven't done that in a long time.  I think I need to get recharged to continue this calling.  So its something to look forward to attending.

And so, back to work.

time

Last night, while watching the Mets/Yankees game ( in which the Mets wiped the field with the Yankees 11-2)  ( at Yankee stadium)  (trying not to rejoice to obnoxiously) ( but its not working) we saw this kid on tv that had blue lips from eating cotton candy.

I then recalled that we had rented a cotton candy making machine for Chloe's quincenera.  How much do I LOVE cotton candy???  LOADS.

Then I went and found some pictures of the day.

It about killed her that she STILL didn't have her braces off for her party.  She got them off 3 months later.  Here she is blowing out the candles one at a time.

She had her court in pink & mint green.  It was the theme of the party.  It was so pretty.  My dad did the blessing of the crown, and I think everyone cried.  Including my dad.  And my dad doesn't cry for nothing.  He is in the background.

It also got me thinking......... that happened almost 5 years ago.  Where, pray tell, did the time go???

I blinked.

I was reading this devotional, which was so timely.  It was about un-redeemable time. My children are growing,  2 are technically grown.  Did I show them the life they need to live, by example?  Did they see Jesus in me?  Or did they see what they thought was Jesus in me, and it ended up being just creepy old me instead?  And if they did see that one, will they know the difference.

My prayer, that I cling to because if this was not a promise from my King I would be done for.  " In my weakness YOU be strong".  Yes, I need to be a living walking example, but I will spend most of my time on my knees.  For my example will fail ever so miserably.

But HE will not.

So, off to live for HIM.

And spend my time with them.

PS

A new mom I recently met just up and handed me this magazine.

And I found it refreshing, one of those things you can pick up and enjoy, bits at a time.

And then I realized they had a website.

Though I would share.

Mom's day

So, my parent's anniversary is May 8th, my mom's birthday is May 9th, and Mother's Day is usually somewhere around there.

So that particular week is usually stressed, because what do you get your mom when she has EVERYTHING??????

You get her dishes. lol

She has had everyday dishes that she was not crazy about for years.  Finally it was time to move them on.  My mom, my aunt & I went shopping.  After looking all over for the perfect set, we didn't find anything.

Then, out of desperation we popped into Royal Doulton.

BINGO!!!

It really is a sweet set.  And its so my mom.  And she loves it.   :)

Then you have to realize, she needs a setting for 18.  rofl.  We didn't get 18 complete settings, but we got 18 dinner dishes.

And now we can add to it for birthdays, Christmas, ect....

And, yeah, so Mother's day was FREEZING here in NJ.

Okay, maybe not freezing, but it went down to 45 degrees.  IN MAY!!!!!

Sheesh.

I do hope you all had a wonderful Mother's Day though.

Its good to be a mom.

Makes us cling to HIM every so tightly.  :)
