Excuse me while I try to cough out my left lung..........

I know no one likes being sick. It stinks. I have cough so much, I threw my back out.

Yeah.

Nothing new has happened, because I have been in bed trying to pass out. It didn't work. Actually something weird has happened. My doctor prescribed this cough medicine which, when I read the caution part, made me want to throw it in the garbage. It said, it actually goes to the brain to tell it to stop coughing!! Which i thought was amazing, until I read the next part: Since it goes to the brain, stop taking it if you have hallucinations!!!!! ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!?!?!

Well, I was desperate enough one night. I took it amd slept. I figured if I am going to have hallucinations, they may as well come out as dreams cause I NEED TO SLEEP. I think I slept 10 hours this week. John slept in the living room.

Excuse my while I try to cough out my left lung.........

The Human Race

So, when we went to the library, Samuel took out a book on Martin Luther King Jr. Which is kind of random since we are doing ancient Egypt right now. Maybe he thought he was related to Martin Luther. lol

The point is, when he finished the book, he was so perplexed. He said to me " I don't get it , mom." After asking a few questions, I realized he had no idea what prejudice was, and the concept was foreign to him. Seeing as how it has never been an issue in our home, or in all our friends' home, he didn't get it!

When I finally explained how some people think, he was stunned. He still didn't understand why or how such a thing could be justified. Almost to the point of thinking I was pulling his leg. Anyway, after all was said and done, he still didn't get it.

Which is a beautiful thing to my heart. His little heart is exactly where it should be in this issue.

Autumn part 2

So, seeing as how its was a perfect Autumn weekend, we went to another farm to enjoy the Autumness of life. But this time we didn't get pumpkins or apples. But we got apple cider and apple cider donuts that WERE STILL WARM!!!! They melted in your mouth. Yes, feel free to be a bit envious. I understand completely.

Here are John & his baby girl. Sometimes he wishes he could take time by the tail and pull it back so as not let her get so grown up. Chloe on the other hand, is thinking she is thinking she is ready to be mature. Remeber when we were that young? Me either.

Chloe found a ginormous leaf in the woods while hiking.

Samuel & Josiah in the corn maze. Josiah is the young man who is in the process of courting our daughter. We are still in prayer process, but he enjoys going out (or staying home) and spending time with us so we could get to know him. They have been courting since early June. BTW, they ( the farm people)made it so you almost can't get lost in the corn. But still, I got lost in a corn field when I was in Germany. Since then, I haven't been too keen on having any association with corn other then eating it.

We went with another family and their daughter completed the picture. Here are Josiah as a tree, Samuel as a cow, Chloe as a fine looking horse, lol, and Sarah as a delightful chicken.

We also fed the animals, went on wagon rides, enjoyed the fall flowers, for they had a whole field of them, learn the history of corn according to the Mayan Indians. And laughed and laughed and laughed.
It was a good weekend.
Hope you have a lovely one also. :)

Its a good time to be RED

Red Sox are still alive!!

SO, I drove by Rutgers stadium tonight to my friends house, and it was a ZOO. Well, it was a zoo because I didn't have tickets to the game. If I had tickets, I wouldn't have minded the traffic. :)

Rutgers is 15 minuted from my house, and we Jerseyan are so very proud of them.

Finally.

It used to be that nobody followed Rutgers. What I mean is we wanted to follow it but the best we could do was we read the paper the next day, and groan. They couldn't give tickets away. It was said that "If only we could have something to cheer about..."

Rutgers just beat #2 SFU. 30 -27.

:) thats something to cheer about!

Its tough watching 2 games at a time. But thankfully they both won.

first time for everything

Yup.

My daughter got her first parking ticket.

She went to go visit the young man who is courting her, and she had hard time finding a parking space. When she finally saw someone pull out, she slipped right in. She was so happy to be at the right place at the right time, she failed to notice the bright yellow paint on the curb.

$54.00.

Yup. Welcome to NJ. Where else can one achive such ridiculousness??

She is not a happy camper. But I have a feeling that she will be very careful from now, exactly where she parks. Life's lessons are harsh sometimes.

Or expensive.

Pumpkin pickin

We went pumpkin picking today. It was actually nice weather, unlike the usual, and we were not freezing numb. Though it was nippy, it was bearable.

Of course, they have the farm animals. Samuel would have done anything to have accidently fallen in there. He loves animals. I know most kids do, but he is ridiculous. I'm thinking vet. He is thinking farm. lol. He may be right.

We asked Miss Sophie, our 87 year old Ukranian neighbor, to come with us. She is lonely since Mr. Walter died 2 years ago, and so she was delighted to join us! She picked out her own pumpkin. Here John is inspecting it making sure it wasn't rotten anywhere. This was her first time pickin'!!!

We have a rule in our home. You can get any pumpkin as long as you can carry it to the pay stand, which is quite a walk, and to the car. Lance wasn't going make let Miss Sophie carry her pumpkin, so he did it for her. And opted not to pick his own because he didn't feel like carrying 2.

Chloe's pumpkin. Sometimes I think my daughter is color blind. But really, she is just creative. :) Plus, notice her new favorite hat she found at Target? Yeah. Let me remind you, she is 19. Still.... I'll keep her. lol.

Samuel found his pumpkin, and he was determined to carry it if it killed him. And it about did.

Then off to the hay pyramid. Samuel looks like a king on the throne. Actually, it s hole he "accidently" found. Watch where you jump, son.

Packing up ready to go home. At this point, the sun was behind the clouds and it was COLD.

Coming home reminded us just how much the cold weather saps your energy. Sitting by the fireplace was what everyone wanted to do. BUT, The New England/ Cowboys game was waiting for me. But after the game, the fireplace was nice. :) God is amazing.

Autumn has arrived, and it is so cold in the house!!

The deal is, we don't put the heat on until the AC window units are taken out of the windows. Well, they haven't been put away yet. And it is cold in this house!! Last night, I had 4 blankets on the bed. It was toasty but my face was cold. lol. I have a feeling that John will doing some "putting away" today. Since the guy has no body fat.....

As cold-ish as it was here, I was watching the Red Sox / Indians playoff game last night, that was played in Boston, and man, it looked colder up there!!!!

I mean, when we were there in August, the night time temps were in the high 50s. IN AUGUST!!

Maybe I will make a fire in the fireplace today. Oh wait.

We are going out to buy a car today if it kills us .

I hope we find something. Its been a month since John's truck died. We have been looking but haven't found anything. He hates work vans but he may just have to get over it. I hope we find him something. Or find me something and he can take over the suburban.

I pray we find something.

I'll let you know.

the COMMON cold. At least to most people.

The Cold has come to our house hold.

It just started and this year, it started with CHLOE!!

The crazy part about this is, Chloe is the one in our home that is germ killer extarordinaire. She is always cleaning, washing her hands, disinfecting everything, all the time! If one of us gets sick, she carries her Lysol with her all over the place. 2 years ago, the whole family came down with the flu. Except for her. She hasn't had a cold or anything for that matter for years!! She took care of us and ran the house. And she survived it without catching so much as ONE little sneeze.

Poor child. She is baffled. This is the kids who doesn't believe in bathroom cleaners. Clorox bleach is her best friend. She cleans those bathroom to an inch of their lives. She has those antibacteria wipes in her purse, her car, her backpack. When we go to NYC, she makes us wipe our hands by handing out wipes continually through out the trip. I feel like a little kid when she does that. lol. Like thats my job except I didn't think of it. I mean, yeah we wash our hands before we eat, but not randomly. All the time.

SO, she is the first cold this year.

Poor kid. Life is tough all over, and colds are common to almost everyone every year. I'm not sure what is more upsetting to her, the fact that she wants to rip her face off and can't breathe or the fact that she got a cold despite all her efforts.

Well.........Off to make chicken soup.

Happy birthday son

So, today my first born son turns 22. Amazing!

I think I was his first convert. lol. God was working furiously in my soul when this boy was born. This boy forced us to see life beyond the moment, beyond the complexity of our selfishness. Into a life of simplicity, surrender and grace. He brought us to the Throne.

Happy birthday Hoops.

I think this picture descibes him to a T. He lives on the edge, but not as a daredevil, but just to enjoy the view. (While giving his mother a heartattack, or at least driving me to my knees. )

Happy birthday son. The rollercoaster ride has been a joy and a blessing. I can't wait to see what else our Lord has in store for you.

PS, someone tell me I am entirely too young to have a child this old!!!!!!!!! :)

Adoption Update

Well, adopting is such a process. The end product is totally worth it, but the journey is a challenge.

The paper work alone is amazing, for lack of a better word.

This afternoon, I visited a friend who adopted 2 chinese little girls. They are both 2 years old, 4 months apart. She is busy, considering she has 3 natural kids. And she is a homeschooler. :) It was so encouraging. They are so beautiful. It made me all excited to come home and fill out the 4th packet of 50+pages of the process.

I think I will be visiting them often, until our journey to the East.

I started doing Beth Moore's 90 days with Jesus. I am day 3, and already I have been challenged and encouraged. I love being in The Word. I don't do it often enough. I want it to become as important as eating. I am starving, and I didn't even know it!! No more. I want to be full!!!
