Lets Go METS!!

Have I ever mentioned how much I LOVE football?

I'm sure I have.

But tonight, its all about baseball.  All the members of my immediate family are BIG Mets fans.  I mean. BIG.   There has been alot of pacing, sitting on the edge of your seat, nail biting, not looking, crying, jumping up & down, rejoicing, defeated, checking-the-standings-everyday happenings and then some, in my home from April to October.

Shea Stadium is closing their doors tomorrow.  Shea holds a precious place in the hearts of Mets fans.  No one is really paying attention to this monumental event, because Yankee Stadium is also closing, and somehow, that is more important to the rest of the world.

Except for all the Mets fans.

Samuel had never been to Shea, and Hoops decided his little brother HAD to go, in order to be able to tell his children he was there.  So this week, they went and had a great time.  Samuel got the 2 hour lecture from the master of all lecturers (me) on how he had to behave and listen to his brother and not go check anything out and get himself lost, lectures.  And off they were.

But not without signs.  The one on the right say "If you promise to win the World Series, I promise to do my math homework."  He finished it in the car on the way there.  Hoops said everyone loved it.
Seeing the sign, almost there!

My boys.

We now have about 200 random pictures.  Hoops let Samuel take pictures of everything he wanted there.
Leaving the stadium, for the last time.

...sigh......

And the biggest fan in the WHOLE family by a mile, is Chloe.  No one is more passionate about this team then my daughter.  She also HAD to go.  She asked John to go with her, but he couldn't.  He had to finish a job.  So she asked me to go.  I told her, if no one else would go with her, not even the garbage man, then I would go.  I didn't really want to go because the weather would have killed my joints.  It was cold and damp, and miserable.  So, she got Josiah to go with her.  Josiah, as you may or may not know, if the young man courting her.

One would think, why is this not the first solution to the problem??  Josiah is a BIG Yankees fan.  Yeah.  Things get interesting in this house.  (ps, Josiah is also a big Giants fan to Chloe being a big Patriots fan.....think last Superbowl)  ( yeah)

Still, off they went.....

He looks thrilled, huh?  lol

Or maybe calling it the skank eye is better. lol.  But I can't say much, though.  I mean....he went and sat through the whole game, cold and raining, with her!!! What a guy.....   :)

And here it is.  Good bye Shea Stadium.  You have served our fans well.

Next year, we will see you at Citifield.

Happy Birthday Sis!

Happy Birthday sis!

I have a real neat big sister.  She is 5 years older then I am.  We grew up having absolutely nothing in common.  But inspite of being a true certified pesty little sister, I can honestly she was a great big sister.  She never lost her temper with me, and tolerated so much from me, I'm surprised we still get along. lol.

This is our latest picture.  It was at the end of this summer on top of the world.  Or at least the museum.  And yes, there are trees in NYC. See?  Actually its Central Park, but trees in NYC non the less.

Scary/funny thing.... for the past few years, it amazes the kids & our mom how we will get together, and my sister and I are wearing the same colors!!!  Tops & bottoms!!  Now we are trying not to, and so we change whatever we were going to wear, and still end up wearing the same colors!!

Weird.

spooky-like

Do you spook easy-like?

I totally do.

Last night, Josiah and I were watching Sunday Night Football.  Chloe fell asleep, so we got to talking and solving all the world's problems, way after the game, but the tv was still on.  There was this scary commercial that come on and I screamed like a girl.

Wait, I am a girl.

Anyway, Josiah jumped and started laughing.  He had never seen anyone get spooked by a commercial.  Yeah.  It would be embarrassing if I cared, but this is who I am, and theres just not much I can do about this particular thing.

Like this past winter when John & I went to a B&B, and we were told that people have been known to see a ghost in the room in which we were staying.  ( BTW, what is it with B&B and ghosts?  Everytime we go to one, the innkeeper feels the need to say something about it, like its an important part of the experience) We are not believers in ghost.  Demons, yes, but not ghosts.  So, we smiled and by the time we got upstairs, we forgot all about it.   At one point during the night, though, I was brushing my teeth, and I remembered I wanted to ask John something, so I opened the door.  And there he was, just standing at the door, RIGHT THERE.  I screamed.

LOUD.

Someone is murdering me in my bed,  blood- curdling loud.

His first reaction was "  SHHHHHH, people will think you saw the ghost!!!!"  Followed by " You just took another five years off my life!!!" What the  heck was doing just standing there anyway??!?!?!

Yeah, I scare easy.

I have come to accept it and learned to laugh about it.

But I sure do wish I met someone like me. It may make me feel more......normal.

But then again, maybe normal is overrated.

Happy Birthday Papa

Today is my father's 70th birthday!

We had a little (thats how he likes things...low key) surprise party for him last night.  He was delighted! We had enough food to feed an army.  Then we had more dessert to make one sick for 3 days.

My dad and his old buddies.  He has know these gentlemen for about 100 years.  I know!!  Pretty amazing since he is only 70!  PS my dad does NOT color his hair.  And he has jet black hair. Neither my sister nor I inherited that.  Bummer.

Here is his family.  Everyone except for Wesley, who couldn't make it from MA.

And of course, Chloe showing off another one of her talents. lol.

I called my mom today after church today.  I asked her what time she finally went to bed last night.  We left at 12:30am  , yes, we were exhausted for church.  She told me the friends didn;t leave until part 2:30 am.

Now thats a good party with good friends!!

Happy birthday dad.   :)

First Day of School!!!

WARNING: loads of pictures  :) For just 1 weekend......

First day of school!! 4th grade!

Needing to include Daisy, who ALWAYS looks worried.
And Reilly, who is entirely too heavy to lift.
Chloe's family birthday dinner

George W Childs park.  The waterfalls were amazing.
Until your child and you husband decide jumping off sounds like a plan.....

There were several falls,  and each one just a pretty as the next.
Bugging sister until she decided it was time to chase you down and remind you that you are the little brother, and she is bigger...in all sorts of ways.

Fosterfields Living farms.  Chasing piglets in order to weigh them.

And washing clothes by hand.  Thank you God for washing machines.  Truly.

Can't go anyplace without finding a tree to climb.

Words escape me.  Probably because I was laughing so hard.  So were people around us.
One last dip in the pool.
At the Met.  With the cousins.

The Italian Festival in town.  John, Chloe and Samuel in a race.   John and Chloe have been racing down this thing since she was about 3. She won!

Bored dumb at Flemington, and wishing this thing would work so he could drive home.

And so, another year of school has stated.  And we are so thankful to Jesus for the honor and privilege of training our child in HIS ways as best as we could.  I pray for the discipline, joy, determination, and HIS Holy Spirit to be ever present in our hearts.
